Can You Say Australia?! WE CAN!!!

*********************** Girls Going to Australia *************************
Last weekend we had a "Love Feast" to celebrate the lecture phase of DTS being over. It was a very fun event with great food, lots of dancing, encouraging others, and so many cameras! I also go to go snorkeling and the first reef wave came in as we finished, showing that winter had arrived in Hawaii. Lots of locals were out and surfers all excited that the surf was up! I couldn't help feeling excited too, the waves are now big and the waters rough, but somehow people keep surfing and swimming. I am growing to really love Hawaii, the people, the landscapes, the ocean, etc. It's been quite the adventure and I've only lived here for 3 months. This week has been quiet on campus as everyone is either going home for Christmas, out on outreach or inbetween semesters.

Tomorrow morning we leave Hawaii to head off to Australia! We will be there for two months and returning on the 18th of Feb. We are all fairly excited, and our travels will be mosly along the East coast. MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone!!! Friends and family - I am sorry I cannot be seeing you this year, but know you are loved and greatly appreciated. Take notice of the small things around you and remember to praise God for His great creativity. One thing I like about Hawaii is that I can see so many stars! I remember that back home I would always try to find the "Small Dipper" because it was so easy to find the "Big Dipper," but a challenge to find the small one. Here, I can always see the Small Dipper, but I haven't been able to see the Big Dipper yet. Apparently, Hawaii is one of the greatest places on earth for viewing stars, and I agree.

Have a fantastic Christmas and New Years!

Cheers,
Amy

P.S. I got a free ipod today from one of my roommates (she got a new one for Christmas because her old one only works on shuffle). I am happy because it works just fine for me - it's a nice white 4GB, and it's all new music! I also found a really cool ring today while cleaning our room.

Lalalalalalala Life is Wonderful

This Never Ending Ocean

I realized the other day that I am getting used to Hawaii a bit. The beautiful flowers and palm trees that I get to see everyday, the great people here, the sunsets, the warm weather, etc. As a result of this realization, I am trying to be extra thankful for all the blessings here! Just today I noticed that the ocean is truly different every day. Sometimes the horizon line just fades away into nothing, and other days there is a very clean line between sky and ocean. Sometimes the water is grey, extra deep blue, or aqua...perfect for looking at fish. Sometimes the water is rough, or completely flat! Either way, the ocean is beautiful and I will never tire of looking at it. But then I thought about it, and came to the conclusion that the ocean never really changes, it just appears like it is changing. It will always be the ocean, nothing can change that. God is kinda like the ocean - some people view Him in different ways, but He will always be God, and no one (and nothing) will ever be able to change that. How do you view the ocean?

Cheers,
Amy
